Shelby Smith – Lead 2’s Teacher

Hi, my name is Shelby and I am the lead teacher in Room 105. I feel so lucky to have the privilege of working with young children and their families every day! I began in the Early Childhood Education field during college. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from San Diego State in 2014, and since then have worked as a preschool teacher at Stanford University’s Children’s Center, as well as an After School Site Supervisor in my hometown of San Carlos, located in the Bay Area. I am happy to be back living in San Diego again; I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Child Development specializing in Early Childhood Mental Health at SDSU. In my free time I enjoy spending weekends at the beach, running along Mission Bay, reading, playing and watching sports, and attending concerts!

The preschool age is by far my favorite, as they are so curious, funny, kind and eager to explore. I feel so fortunate to be working at the co-op, where the sense of community is incredibly strong. I look forward to a year of playing, learning and laughing with you all this year!!
