My first experience working with children was back in 2001 as a local dance teacher, and since then I have not questioned my genuine love and gift for what I do. I am fortunate to have found my passion at a young age, and have made sure to nurture the craft with each unique opportunity that arises. Throughout life’s experiences, I have been fortunate to work in various learning environments in both San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area.
I entered the field of Early Childhood Education upon my return to San Diego in 2012 and took my courses through the San Diego Community College District. I was a lead teacher for several years for young threes and my focus was fostering independence, while promoting kindness and compassion. I am a true believer in a child-centered curriculum that both focuses on student’s interests and what is relevant to their daily lives.
When I am not in the classroom, I love to be outside exploring this great city; out on long hikes and Coronado Dog Beach are just a couple of my favorite ways to spend time. My heart truly loves exploring Mexico every chance I get, learning the culture and understanding more of my own heritage.
I am excited and grateful for my first year here at San Diego Cooperative Preschool. My hopes are to continue to create necessary parent/teacher bonds to benefit the development of the “whole child.” This school houses a truly wonderful group of staff, that I know will brings such great growth for not only myself, but for the community they serve.
